A trip to New York gave Andreas Brunner the idea: 1994 was the 25th anniversary of the “Stonewall Riots”. With them the fight for the equality of LGBT began in 1969. This was widely celebrated in the Big Apple. Brunner, co-leader of QWIEN, was there at that time and so enthusiastic that he knew immediately: “We need something like that in Vienna as well.” In 1996 the first rainbow parade took place on the Ringstrasse. In the video interview Brunner remembers and reveals how the premiere in Vienna went at that time.
